Our automotive roots date back to 1964, when I worked for one of the first BMW dealers
on the West coast in Pasadena, California. In those days we were able to blend independent
servicing of VW, Porsche and Mercedes automobiles with the selling of new vehicles.
Many of our customers thought that BMW was a British car. In 1971 my brother and
I bought the business and continued as an independent shop specializing in the service
and repair of German cars. By 1972, due to many requests by our German car
customers who began to purchase Japanese cars, we began servicing those cars as
well.
By 1987, escaping from the Los Angeles smog we moved the service operation to Rancho
Bernardo where we have been engaged in German car service as Rancho Bernardo German
Automotive and as Japan Import Service. Over decades of time we have been able to
witness the miraculous technological evolution of the automobile. The continuing
technical challenge forces us to keep honing our skills. Forty years of learning
is not the end, as next year’s models will present us with new challenges. This
is a time when many shops try to repair all brands of vehicles to increase their
bottom line. I can truly say that such diversification of service without a proper
technology background is an unyielding gamble for the unwary consumer who may not
understand the electronic intricacies of today’s automobiles.
Experience costs you no more when applied for servicing your vehicle correctly
the first time.
